Inspirational Word for Today

“THE SEVEN WORDS ON THE CROSS - WORD 1

1. Luke 23:34 “FATHER FORGIVE THEM, FOR THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY DO.”

“The Word of Forgiveness”

Significance: This applies to His enemies, the soldiers, those who mocked Him, scourged Him and tortured Him, to His disciples who deserted Him and to those who daily forget Him in their lives.

- Jesus started with prayer on the cross

- He demonstrated His divine Love to humanity

- To show forgiveness when others hurt us without a cause

- The essence is forgiving each other

- He taught it in the Lord’s prayer – Matt. 6:12

- He told Peter to forgive many times – Matt. 18:21-22

- He taught the disciples during the Last Supper – Matt. 26:27-28

- He showed forgiveness to the paralytic at Capernaum – Matt. 2:5

- He forgave the adulteress caught in the act and about to be stoned – John 8:1-11

- Finally He taught that if you hold others sins against them, they are not forgiven – John 20:22-23

- We did not confess our sins to Him, yet He forgave us.

- We should also forgive others’ sin if even they have not said sorry to us.

The lesson Jesus taught us on the cross through His Word is FORGIVENESS. To be continued tomorrow God willingly.
